Mad Mayor of the Day: Toronto’s controversial mayor Rob Ford was forced to apologize yesterday after a home visit from well-respected Canadian comedienne Mary Walsh earlier this week allegedly resulted in a panicked call to 911, during which he reportedly swore profusely and referred to dispatchers as “bitches.”

Walsh, best known for her work on the popular political comedy show This Hour Has 22 Minutes, arrived at Ford’s home as her iconic “princess warrior” character Marg Delahunty, but was snubbed by the mayor, who quickly retreated into his house.

Once inside, Ford made two emergency calls, one to request police assistance, and one to express “frustration with the delay.” A source told CBC News that the second call was replete with expletives, including a classic “Don’t you f*cking know? I’m Rob f*cking Ford, the mayor of this city!”

As noted above, Ford apologized Thursday for his aggressive behavior, but claims he never referred to the dispatchers as “bitches.” Some have called on Ford to release a tape of the now-infamous 911 calls, and the mayor said her would discuss the matter with police.

This has covered all of the damn news in my city for the past three days and all I can think is, “don’t we have better news to report on?” But then again, I’m grateful if this is the only news we have.
