“How the fuck do you owe China, B?”
I know this guy’s meant to vent some serious frustrations, but he happens to be wildly entertaining in the process. I’m at odds with some of his ‘entitled thinking’ (in my humble opinion, is part of the problemo), but he’s triggered some deeps thoughts here so bear with me.
Going back to Semperidum’s posting earlier today, “we” as in North Americans need to step back and seriously re-evaluate our value system. In a capitalist system, commerce has NO CHOICE but to propagate all that is ‘individual’. Be unique. Get a tattoo. Buy this and you’ll feel special. Stand out in a crowd. Wear this cologne. Whatever you do, don’t even think about wearing the same dress twice!! Not that I’m communist, but I not purely capitalist either. What we need is a middle ground, good-natured people, and a societal over-haul that dismantles all that is superficial and running this ‘fucked up plan’.
Let me start with this…
EVERYTHING THAT YOU COULD EVER WANT, NEED OR IMAGINE IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOUR PRECIOUS LITTLE FACE (… or inside your heart, coursing through your bloody veins and into your brain, deep inside your soul). It enrages me that commerce preys on your insecurities, convincing you that you need to buy this n that in order to fill this or that (totally fabricated) void. The same goes for anything else. That chocolate cake won’t solve your boy related headaches. Smoking that cigarette may make you forget about that chocolate cake, but you’re going RIGHT back to SQUARE one unless you finally face what’s really the matter.Your inability to see the entire worth of YOU.
But here’s where you go right.
YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH and PERFECT EXACTLY AS YOU ARE. You don’t need nobody or no thing to compensate you for what you think you lack. You’re worthy of nothing and worthy of it all at the SAME time. Does that make sense? Quit letting your ego run your life. You are everything and nothing and therefore, you don’t need ANYTHING.
This whole notion of spending money one doesn’t have has put everyone into a rut. This notion that we have to ‘keep up with the Jones” has put us outside our means and into dark desperate holes of financial despair. Look around your room, how many pairs of pants do you own? how many beauty products fill your bathroom counter? How many purses, scarves, watches, earrings, bracelets, lamps or drawers to fill do you really NEED? How much further are you going to take this path?
If you give up your need to fulfill with ‘things’, you simultaneously give up your attachment to ‘things’.. and when you detach your personal value (which should be 100% and perfectly whole from the start) from the added value that some ‘thing’ is going to bring into it, the only possible result is FREEDOM. Happiness. LOVE…JOY! All the meaningful intangibles - i.e. ‘everything that really matters’ - springs to life. You are limited only by your own ability to connect with all that is around you - family, friends, a busy street, a sunset, a cool breeze, the laughter of a child…
ARRRRrrrGGGGGGG…FOR REAL!! !
(…and this is the perfect lead into my feminist rant…but i’ll save that for another day)
